Team Cougar won the first leg of the Cowes Classic Powerboat Festival 2017.
Team Cougar won the first leg of the Cowes Classic Powerboat Festival 2017. Steve Curtis, Richard Carr, James Sinclair and Mark Pascoe comfortably won the first leg from Cowes to Torquay in the Cougar US1-46 in 1 hour 8 minutes, setting a new course record of 97.68 mph.
The Cougar US1-46 is powered by two Mercury Racing 1350 engines; built over 30 years ago the boat was refurbished for the Cowes Torquay Cowes race in 2016, which proved to be the toughest race ever with only two teams completing the race within the time limit. Team Cougar won the 2016 race in a total time of 4 hours and 12 minutes, over one hour faster than the runners up.
